Nuclear Weapons
From the Cyber Nations Wiki, the wiki dedicated to the Cyber Nations Game.
Nuclear weapons have made their way into Cyber Nations.

[edit] Cost
Nuclear weapons are expensive at $500,000 and with each active nuclear weapon in your posession the price of nukes increases by 10%. (Call this the law of supply and demand). In addition to the initial cost, nuclear weapons also have a starting cost of $5,000 a day to maintain, which also increases by 10% per nuke. Possession of nuclear weapons may also lower your environment.
[edit] Requirements
Nations require a tech level of 75 or greater and an infrastructure level of 1000 or greater in order to begin purchasing nuclear weapons. A nation must have uranium as a resource for production. A nation must also be ranked in the top 5% of all nations, or have the Manhattan Project (a national wonder). A player can only purchase 1 nuclear weapon per day.
[edit] Deployment
Nuclear weapons are extremely devastating to nations being attacked by them. Nuclear weapons completely reduce the number of defending soldiers for a nation to zero, cause great amounts of land and infrastructure losses (35% each up to a maximum of 150 land and 150 infrastructure), and also cause population happiness to plummet for a period of 5 days after a nuclear attack. In addition, each use of a nuclear weapon will increase the world's global radiation level for 30 days. For these reasons and because they are so expensive they serve as more of a war deterrent than anything else.
[edit] Purchasing Tips
Be hesitant to buy a nuclear weapon.
- Nuclear weapons require you to be in the top 5% of nations. You should probably be well-established in this ranking before you purchase a nuke (like in the top 3%). Nuclear weapons are very expensive and saving up for one will stunt your nation's growth and cause you to fall in the rankings. In addition, other nations will likely see you as a potential threat, especially given the random nuclear attacks that have occured in the past by rogue nations. Those rogue nations are now stuck permanently at the bottom of the nation rankings due to counter-attacks by the Cyber Nations community. If you enjoy your nation it is most advised to not launch your nuclear weapon unless absolutely necessary.
- The above information is largely out of date. The game has matured significantly since the entry was last updated. Accordingly, the size of a nation in the top 5% has also increased. By the time a nation reaches that level, they are usually making at least three million dollars daily, after taxes. In that light, the cost of a single nuke is considered miniscule, and the upkeep cost is frankly, peanuts.
[edit] History
Throughout the history of the Cyberverse, nukes have mainly been used by rogue nations and against rogue nations. Cybernations Quarterly Issue 4 looked at this issue.
